Suzuki GB announced yesterday that the new 2019 Vitara will be landing in showrooms this autumn, and will feature several changes over the outgoing model.

Gone is the diesel engine; not surprising as diesel car sales have dropped sharply over the last 18 months fuelled by their perceived environmental impact compared to petrol engines. Suzuki have replaced it and the 1.6 petrol engine with the more frugal and powerful 1.0 and 1.4 Boosterjet counterparts currently residing in the S-Cross, Baleno and Swift ranges. These engines not only offer more power and torque, they're also more efficient and output fewer emissions.

The SZ4 and SZ-T models will be powered by the 1.0 Boosterjet, meanwhile the SZ5 will house the powerful 1.4 boosterjet also seen in the current Vitara S and new Swift Sport, which outputs 140PS and 220nm of torque from just 1,500rpm. The SZ4 will be 2WD only, with Suzuki's much lauded ALLGRIP system available in the SZ-T & SZ5 models.

Aside from the new engines - the new Vitara will also see updates to the exterior including new alloy wheels, a new front grille with lower bumper. There will also be two new colours available: Ice Greyish Blue and Solar Yellow Pearl, both are dual-tone meaning they have black roofs and wing mirrors.

Internally, the Vitara will incorporate new soft-touch material around the newly designed upper instrument panel for added quality. It will also be the most technologically advanced Suzuki to date, with new safety equipment as standard on the SZ5 model. This includes Dual Sensor Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Traffic Sign Recognition, Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

There is currently no announcement of pricing for the new line-up, but we do have some fantastic savings available on the current model of £1,500 across the range.
