Several members of staff were certainly in a festive mood just before Christmas, as we were thrilled to hand over a cheque to Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice fundraising manager, Andrew Wood, for money raised throughout last year.

Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope is our dedicated charity, and staff from both our car and motorcycle dealerships threw themselves enthusiastically into numerous events and fundraising activities. These included sponsorship of and participation in a Paint Rush and Bronte Mountain Bike Challenge, a hamper raffle and various other raffles and auctions plus a special Christmas jumper day. Collection boxes were also available at all our Suzuki, Nissan and motorcycle dealerships.


Commenting on the year’s fundraising activity, our Managing Director Robin Appleyard said: “Nearly everyone at Colin Appleyard knows someone who has been affected by cancer so we are delighted to help support this much needed, local care facility and the hospice’s dedicated staff. We will be aiming to raise even more in 2017.”

Andrew Wood added: “We were delighted when the team at Colin Appleyard selected us as their chosen charity and we’ve been blown away by their enthusiasm to support our care at every opportunity. The three thousand, four hundred and fifty pounds they’ve raised has made a real difference to local people in our care and we look forward to building on our strong relationship further in 2017.”

Sue Ryder Care - Manorlands Hospice provides specialist palliative care for patients with cancer and other life limiting illnesses from Airedale, Craven, Bradford and Wharfedale. The hospice costs over £2 million to run each year and is charged with raising over £1.1million to maintain its services. It relies on voluntary contributions for the majority of this income and never charges patients for any of the care they receive.
