Suzuki Swace Review

We know what you're thinking - we've added the wrong photo and you're looking at a Toyota Corolla. Well we wouldn't blame you for assuming we'd make a mistake but we can assure you we haven't! The similarities are clear that's for sure and that's because it was born from a collaboration between Suzuki and Toyota (which also saw the arrival of the ACross, Suzuki's first plug-in Hybrid on the UK market).

The combination of these two well known Japanese manufacturers could only ever result in producing something great and it certainly has - an extremely well-built, affordable and reliable Hybrid estate.

Smart, elegant and practical the Suzuki Swace is, in our humble opinion, a better looking version of the Toyota Corolla and also delivers more mpg giving you a combined 64.2mpg (WLTP Combined Fuel consumption). Starting from just £25,499 (correct as at Feb 2022), the Suzuki Swace is also slightly cheaper than the Toyota Corolla.

The base model Swace SZ-T comes with a 1.8 litre petrol-hybrid system which has an output of 120bhp. It is front-wheel drive and uses a CVT automatic gearbox.

When it comes to standard features the SZ-T model comes with some surprising features such as; heated front seats, heated steering wheel. dual zone climate control, rear camera and an 8-inch touchscreen with smartphone connectivity. The model above (SZ5) comes with a wireless phone charging pad, parking sensors both at the front and rear and the parking assist function.

Under The Bonnet

Suzuki have made the Swace simple with just one engine variant. Taken from the Corolla, the 1.8-litre hybrid set-up consists of a petrol unit producing 101bhp and a steady 142Nm of torque, complimented with a further 71bhp and 163Nm from the electric motor, giving the Suzuki Swace a total output of 120bhp.

If you have had a read of our guide to the different types of hybrids you'll know the Suzuki Swace is a full hybrid, meaning it is possible to travel on a combination of petrol / electic along with electric power only.

When it comes to running costs Suzuki have hit the jackpot with excellent fuel economy as well as low CO2 emissions. The Swace will appeal to commuters, families and fleet drivers alike. You can check out our latest offers here.

Suzuki have stated the Swace will deliver up to 64.2mpg on the combined cycle, with a total range of over 700 miles on a single tank of fuel & we can vouch for this. Our sales and aftersales teams have driven the Swace for a few months now with some hitting 66mpg! And we think in the correct mode and on the correct terrain you could even achieve 70mpg.
