Evie's Olympic car design proves a Rio winner!
Following a highly successful evening with Olympic gold medal winner Darren Campbell MBE at our Nissan showroom we launched a competition for primary school children to come up with an Olympic themed design for a Nissan Qashqai car.
The winning design, which was picked from over 50 entries, was created by Evie Swanston who is a pupil at Burley Woodhead Church of England Primary School. The design has now been brought to life and the car, with its striking new livery, will be driven around the local area in the lead up to and during the games.
Evie was presented with a prize of an iPad Mini plus a free valet for the family’s car and in addition the school received a donation of £250 to be put towards sports equipment.
Nissan is the official automotive sponsor of the Rio Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as being a Team GB partner. During the games Nissan will provide 5,000 official vehicles and in the build up to the games Darren Campbell has joined other leading sportsmen and women as a Nissan Team Ambassador.
Commenting on the winning design, our Nissan General Manager Dave Evans said: “Many congratulations to Evie for an excellent design. We were very impressed with the standard of entries and found it extremely difficult to pick a winner. In the end we felt Evie’s design interpreted the Olympic theme best of all.”
The Burley Woodhead C of E School Business Manager Victoria Lister added: “We try very hard to encourage creativity at the school so it is pleasing when a design like Evie’s is recognised by a wider audience. Our pupils will certainly be looking out for the car during the next few weeks. We are also very grateful to Colin Appleyard Nissan for their generous donation towards sports equipment. It will be put to good use.”
